Taschereau Boul. reopens after 'major' gas leak in Longueuil, Que.

The stretch of the boulevard betweenCur-Poirier Boulevardand the Jacques-Cartier Bridge on-ramp reopened Monday morning after a gas leak on Sunday.

No injuries reported and roads have since reopened

A "major" natural gasleakforced local police in Longueuil, Que., to limit circulation along Taschereau Boulevard on Sunday.

The incident was reported around 9:15 a.m., saidFranois Boucher, a spokesperson for theService de Police de l'agglomration de Longueuil(SPAL).

At thattime, police closed the street in both directions. The lanes in direction toward Brossardreopened later on Sunday.

The stretch of the boulevard betweenCur-Poirier Boulevardand the Jacques-Cartier bridgehasalso since reopened.

The leak appearedto be due to a broken underground gas pipe,Bouchersaid, adding that gas distributor nergirwas onsite investigating.

No injuries were reported.
