80-year-old woman killed after being hit by truck in Lachine

An 80-year-oldwoman is dead after being hit by a truck at the intersection ofNotre-Dame Street West andSaint-Pierre Avenuein Lachine.

Montreal police received a 911 call at 10:50 a.m. about a collision that took place as the woman was crossing the road.

Police say the driver of the truck was headed northbound, waiting at the intersection, but accelerated and struck the woman before she made it across.

She was pronounced dead at thescene. The truck driver, a 70-year-old man, wastreated for shock.

Police are investigating.
