Montreal's Dinosaurs Unearthed 2 gets thumbs up from 9-year-old amateur paleontologist

Montrealershave a chance to walk among dinosaurs that lived more than 65 million years ago at Dinosaurs Unearthed 2, a new exhibit at the Old Port's Science Centre.

CBC Montreal Daybreak's nine-year-old amateur paleontologist Elliott Seah visited the exhibit and offered up his own assessment of the dinosaurs and interactive features.

Daybreak's paleontology columnist and nine-year-old dino-lover Elliott Seah visited the new Dinosaurs Unleashed 2 exhibit at the Montreal Science Centre, and gives it a 4.5 star review.

Elliott is the author of a new book on dinosaurs for children called Le Petit Guidedes Dinosaures, published by ditions MultiMondesthis fall.

Dinosaurs come to life

Dinosaurs Unearthed 2 features 14 animatronicdinosaurs, like the Brontosaurus, the T-Rex, and the Velociraptor.

Seahenjoyed thedinosaurs' life-like features, especially detailslike blinking eyes, moving limbs, and loud roars.

"I like that they put feathers on the juvenile T-Rex. New findings say that some dinosaurs did have feathers. And I guess they probably lost them [as they aged]," said Seah.

Fun extras add interest

Models of dinosaur horns, nests of eggs, and even replica dinosaur poop will keep children entertained in-between visits to animatronic dinosaurs.

Seah especially enjoyed the chance to brush through a replica of a dinosaur dig,something he didn't get to do this summer when his family dinosaur-hunting trip to Drumheller, Alta., was rained out.

In all, Seahgives the exhibit 4.5 stars out of five.

"I liked the animatronics. They were really realistic," he said.

I would like to make the exhibit bigger, and add more information. And some of the models have a tiny bit, just a tiny bit of details to change."
