COVID-19 in Quebec: What you need to know on Monday

PremierFranois Legault has announced mandatory mask regulations for all indoor public spaces, as the province reported 100 new confirmed cases.

Masks or face coverings will be mandatoryin all indoor public spaces across Quebec, starting Saturday.

Premier Franois Legaultmade that announcement earlier this afternoon.You can watch the news conferenceon CBC Montreal's Facebook page.

The regulation applies to everyone aged 12 and up, except for those with a medical condition that precludes them from wearing a mask.

As of this morning, commuters across the province must wear masks while taking public transit.

What are the symptoms of COVID-19?

  • Fever.
  • New or worsening cough.
  • Difficulty breathing.
  • Sudden loss of smell without a stuffy nose.

Quebec government reminders for preventing the spread of COVID-19:

  • Wash your hands frequently.
  • Avoid touching your face.
  • It is recommended to wear a mask or face covering, especiallywhen physical distancing is not possible, in an indoor public space and on public transit.
  • Stay at least two metres away from other people as much as possible.
  • Self-isolate for 14 days after returning from a stay outside the country.
