Cdrika Provencher case: Police call off ground search after 10 days

Quebec provincial police have ended their search for new evidence in the wooded area where Cdrika Provencher's remains were found near Trois-Rivires, Que.

After 10 days, Quebec provincialpolice haveended their ground search of a wooded area nearTrois-Riviresfor new evidence in the case ofCdrika Provencher.

The SQ did not reveal any details about what, if anything, was found during the search, but said investigatorsare satisfied with the work that was done.

In a news release, the police force said searchers could return to the site next spring if necessary.

Thepartial remains of the nine-year-old girl were discovered by hunterson Dec. 11.

A massive search operation began the next day. Hundreds of specially trained officers scoured the area. Acommand centre was set up on the edge of the woods near Highway 40.

Provencher disappeared in 2007 after speaking to a man who said he was looking for a dog.

Police investigators say they are stillinterested in findingthe driver of a red Acura that was seen near where Cdrika went missing.
