Abandoned baby placed in Montreal foster home

A baby abandoned at the Lakeshore General Hospital last week has been placed in a foster home.

A baby abandoned at the Lakeshore General Hospital last week has been placed in a foster home.

The baby boy's biological mother walked into the Montreal hospital and left the newborn with a staff member, saying she needed to park her car.

She went outside and never returned.

The hospital made a public plea, asking the woman to come and get her baby and receive medical care.

Police said no charges would be laid against her if she came back to the hospital for her baby. She has yet to be seen.

Dozens of prospective parents showed up at the hospital offering to adopt the black-haired baby boy, who earned the nickname "Juillet" because he was born in the month of July.

Hospitals have placed the five-pound infant with a local foster home.

The biological mother has six months to reclaim her child. After that deadline he can be adopted.
