Police block off part of Spence Street after violent assault

One person was rushed to hospital in unstable condition after a serious assault in Winnipeg's West Broadway area Sunday night.

One person was rushed to hospital in unstable condition after a serious assault in Winnipeg's West Broadway area Sunday night.

Police were called to a home on the 200 block of Spence Street, just south of Portage Avenue, shortly after 10 p.m.

No arrests have yet been made in connection with the assault, police said. (Cliff Simpson/CBC)

A large police presence could be seen in the area, includingseveral armed officers and canine units.

On Monday morning, a section of the street remained blocked off and the police service's identification unit was on scene.

There is little information about what happened. Police would only saythe victim is an adult and that noarrests have been made.
