McPhillips, Leila remain closed Wednesday due to sinkhole

Traffic near Garden City Shopping Centre continues to be disrupted thanks to a sinkhole that opened up Tuesday.

Just after 3p.m., the city's traffic account on Twittertweeted about a possible sinkhole at McPhillips Street at Leila Avenue.

A couple of hours later, Winnipeg police confirmedit was a sinkhole, also via Twitter.

Northbound McPhillipswas closed, police said, as waswestbound Leila.

The city said Wednesday the streets remainclosed and told drivers to find alternative routes. There was no immediate word on when the streets would reopen.
