Nine-year-old girl in critical condition after crash at Perimeter Highway and Pipeline Road

Nine people were injuredincluding a nine-year-old girlin critical condition and a 71-year-old woman in unstable conditionafter a major crash involving four vehicles at Pipeline Road and the Perimeter Highway Saturday afternoon.

A total of seven patients were taken to hospital, said police.

Photos from the scene show anSUV and minivan wereinvolved in the collision, which happened around 12:30 p.m. CT. A Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service spokesperson said they took five people to hospital.

Interlake Regional Health Authority ambulances were used to take two others to hospital in stable condition, the WFPS spokesperson said.

A light standardwas also toppled.

Traffic was seen backed up along Pipeline, triggering major delays.

Police urged drivers to use caution and said eastbound traffic was being diverted and that the eastbound Perimeter was closed to traffic.

RCMPsaid a traffic collision reconstructionist remained at the scene. The cause of the crash was not yet known.
