One person remains in hospital and arson investigators are sifting through the debris after a house fire in the North End.

Fire tore through a home on Aberdeen Avenue around9:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Neighbours told CBC News that one woman was taken to hospital in unstable condition. One neighbour heard a loud bang before seeing flames engulf the structure.

Police have released few details on the cause of the fire.

The home's owner told CBC News that three people, including a mother and daughter, had recently rented the home.

Aberdeen was blocked off from Powers Street to Salter Street all day Tuesday. In the afternoon, the police identification unit was on scene documenting evidence.
