3 teens face arson charges for fire that torched 2 vacant houses in Winnipeg

Two boys, aged 13 and 16,anda 15-year-old girlare facing charges in connection to a fire that engulfedtwo vacant housesnear downtown Winnipeg in February.

All three were arrested on Monday and will be charged with arson and possession of incendiary material, police said in a news release on Wednesday.

Emergency crews were called Feb. 7 around 6:30 p.m. abouttwo vacant residences burning on Balmoral Street near Sargent Avenue.

Nobody was injured but both properties were destroyed and aneighbouring house was evacuated as a precaution.

The fire was determined to be intentionally set and the police service'smajor crimes unit continued to investigate, eventually identifying the three teens.
