At the time, police said it seemed out of character for Wood to run away. The teen had moved from Gods River, Man.,to attend high school in the capital city.

"Personally, I'm starting to lose hope and I'm starting to believe I will never see my daughter alive again," her father Anthony Wood told CBC News on Wednesday.

Nine years on, Wood's disappearance remains an active case. It is one of eight missing-persons casesbeing investigated by a police task force known as Project Devote.

Anthony Wood is pleading for anyone to come forward with any information they may have about his daughter.

Lindsay Lobb of MissingKids.ca, a program that is part of the Canadian Centre for Child Protection, says even the smallest tip can help.

"Any piece of information, no matter how small, could be critical,"Lobb said in an email.

Anyone with information on Sunshine Wood is asked to contact Project Devote investigators at 1-888-673-3316 or visit MissingKids.ca.
