About 10,000 people came out to the 26th annual Teddy Bears' Picnic at Winnipeg's Assiniboine Park on Sunday, despite less than ideal weather conditions.

The skies were cloudy, temperatures hovered around 10 C, and rain fell at times throughout the day-long event, which raises money for the Children's Hospital Foundation of Manitoba.

"Kids and families were dressed for the weather and enjoyed everything the picnic had to offer," an event spokesperson told CBC News in an email late Sunday.

Roughly the same number of people 10,000 to 12,000came out under similar weather conditions to the 2010 picnic, according to the spokesperson.

The weather was better for last year's event, which drew about 40,000 people.

Upwards of 80,000 have attended the event throughout its history, the spokesperson said.

The Teddy Bears' Picnic offered a full range of family entertainment, as well as a tent where children's teddy bears could get a "checkup" and any needed repairs.
