Woman killed in 7 vehicle crash in Winnipeg

A 29-year-old Winnipeg man is facing numerous charges following a seven vehicle collision on McPhillips Street on Saturday afternoon.

A 71-year-old woman is dead following a seven vehicle smash up on McPhillips Street on Saturday afternoon.

Five other people were taken to hospital with various injuries.

Police said a northbound Ford Ranger was travelling at a high rate of speed when it struck another vehicle at William Avenue. The vehicle then crashed into another being driven by the woman who was killed.

Several parked vehicles were also damaged.

The 29-year-old Winnipeg man driving the Ranger was arrested at the scene and is facing numerous charges, including impaired driving causing death, impaired driving causing bodily harm and refusal to take a breathalyzer test.

The man is in custody at the remand centre.
