Winnipeg police hunting for suspects after man critically hurt in downtown stabbing

Police are searching for two suspects after a stabbing that left a man critically injured in downtown Winnipeg on Tuesday afternoon.

Winnipeg Police Service Insp. Cam Baldwin said officers were on the scene of a stabbing that took place at a bus loop near Main Street and Pacific Avenuearound 4:10 p.m.

The man who was stabbed was taken tohospital in critical condition.

As of 5:30 p.m., Baldwin said police were still searching for suspects in the area. The duty officer said they were looking for two people who are believed to have been involved, but had no leads yet on their identity.

He said there is no public safety risk, and thescene near the Sport Manitoba building has been cordoned off.

A WinnipegTransit bus was secured in the area. Baldwin said the vehicleis involved in the investigation, but did not elaborate on how.

The city declined to comment on the investigation.
