Second fatal crash sees woman dead near Stonewall

A second crash near Stonewall, this one on Highway 67, has left one woman dead. It follows a crash less than 24 hours ago along Highway 7 in the same area.

A second crash near Stonewall in less than 24 hours, this one on Highway 67, has left another woman dead.

At around 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, emergency crews were called to a single-vehicle collision about fivekilometres west of Stonewall, said RCMP.

A 66-year-old woman, who was the only person in the vehicle, died.

Police say it appears thedriver of theFord Explorerlost control, then the vehiclehit the ditch and rolled.

On Tuesday evening, another woman died near Stonewall after her pickup truck veered into the oncoming lane and struck a semi-trailer. The incident happenedalong Highway 7,three kilometres north of Highway 67.

A male passenger in the truck was taken to hospital with unknown injuries, while the driver of the semi-trailer was not injured in the collision.

Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in either crash.
