Sally Ann campaign saved by late donation surge

Manitobans stepped up to help save the Salvation Army's Kettle campaign in 2012.

Manitobans stepped up to help save the Salvation Army's Kettle campaign in 2012.

Priorto Christmas, thefundraising campaign was $150,000 short of its $385,000 goal.The shortfall would have meant significant cuts to the Salvation Army's programming.

Once the public heard of the plight, however, the donations started coming in, including a $50,000 from lottery winners Kirby and Marie Fontaine.

In the end, the campaign raised $62.09 more than its goal.
