The Royals are rolling into Winnipeg to help honour a group of young Manitobans.

Their Royal highnesses, the Earl and Countess of Wessex Prince Edward and his wife Sophie, will visit the province on June 22.

Edward is the brother of Prince Charles and the ninth in line to the throne.

"Manitobans have a long, proud relationship with members of the Royal Family and we are both delighted and honoured the earl and countess have chosen to include Manitoba in their visit to Canada," Premier Brian Pallister said in a release.

"Although His Royal Highness has visited Manitoba several times, the last time being in 2008, this is Her Royal [Highness's] first visit to the province."

Prince Edward will tour the Royal Aviation Museum of Western Canada and participate in the Duke of Edinburgh Awards ceremony which will honour 50 young Manitobans. He will also have a private meeting with the lieutenant-governor.

People are invited to welcome Sophie at 1:15 p.m. on the grounds of the Deer Lodge Centre before she meets veterans, residents, and staff.

This will be the earl's 38th visit to Canada.
