Man bound, injected with drugs and robbed in Brandon after answering ad for companionship

Police have arrested a 20-year-old woman and are looking for three other suspects after a man was bound, drugged, and robbed in Brandon.

Police have arrested a 20-year-old woman and are looking for three other suspects after a man was bound, drugged, and robbed in Brandon, Man.

According to police, the man answered an ad that was placed on the internet forcompanionship services.

He was picked up on May 7 by two women and taken to an apartment. As they walked towardthe building, two men armed with machetes grabbed the man and tied his hands and legs.

The man was forced to provide his bank card and security code, which were used to makeseveral purchases at various businesses, police said.

The man, still bound, was laterordered to transfer a large sum of money to his four attackers. He was also injected with drugs and while under their influencewas taken to a bank machine to withdraw another large sum of money, police said.

Police say they are doing tests to determine what type of drug was used, adding the man did not suffer any serious injuries.

He was set free by the attackers once they were satisfied with the amount of money they had received, police said.

No information was provided on the amount of money that was stolen.

Sgt. Dave Andrew said it's an unusual incident, but not unheard of.

"We have unfortunately had a similar incident to this in our city, I believe about two years ago a very similar type of situation."

The 20-year-old woman was arrested Thursday afternoon on a different matter, after she allegedly ran from a cab without paying her fare.

Police said shehired a cab and requested to just drive around but when the farereached $100, she got out and ran. Officers were called and arrested the woman near 10thStreet and Victoria Avenue.

She has been charged with forcible confinement, robbery with violence, and extortion for the incident involving the man. A further charge of transportation by fraud was laid for the incident involving the cab.
