Arrests made after Winnipeg armed robbery safely resolved, police say

A number of arrests have been made after an armed robbery brought close to a dozen police officers to Winnipeg's Centennial neighbourhood early Thursday.

Officers were called toPacific Avenue, betweenPaulin and Ellen streets, just before 5 a.m.

A number of arrests have been made after an armed robbery brought close to a dozen police officers to Winnipeg's Centennial neighbourhood early Thursday.

Officers were called toPacific Avenue, betweenPaulin and Ellen streets, just before 5 a.m. The police service's armoured vehicle, as well as an ambulance, were also on the street.

Police said at about 3:30 p.m. that situation was safely resolved.

A police spokesperson had little information about what happened,but said the call came in as an armed robbery.

Officers could be heard through the morning using a bullhorn to call topeople inside a house, telling them to come out with their arms in the air.

Several people were been taken into custody early Thursday, and a number more were arrested throughout the day. Police weren't able to say how many people are in custody.

No charges have been laid yet and no injuries have been reported.

The major crimes unit continues to investigate. They will likely release more information on Friday.
