Male assaulted in front of Portage Place Tuesday evening

A male was assaulted in front of Portage Place Shopping Centre on Tuesdayat about 6 p.m., say Winnipeg police.

The victim is being treated in hospital for unknown injuries.

Winnipeg police taped off a section of sidewalk outside Portage Place Shopping Centre andpart of anentrance to the mall at VaughanStreet.Multiple police officers were on scene Tuesdaynight investigating.

Police did not saywhether there are any suspects or if anyone is being questioned.

Earlier on Tuesday members of the Winnipeg Police Servicebomb unit entered a building behind Portage Place and removed what they described asan airsoft"grenade."
