Manitoba reports 4 more deaths, 92 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday

Manitoba has 92 new cases of COVID-19 and four more people have died from the disease, the provincial online data page says.

Manitoba has 92 new cases of COVID-19 and four more people have died from the disease, the provincial online data page says.

The latest deaths bring the toll in Manitoba since the start of the pandemic to 1,230.

Southern Health reported the highest number of new cases out of all the regions, with 30 new cases, followed by the Winnipeg and Northern regions with 17 each, Prairie Mountain Health with 15 and Interlake-Eastern with 13.

Of the new cases, 58 people are unvaccinated, six are partly vaccinatedand 28are fully vaccinated.

The provincial five-day test positivity rate is 3.2 per cent, down from 3.8 per cent on Thursday. There is no update for the test positivity rate in Winnipeg on Friday.

There are 92 COVID-19 patients in hospitals, one fewer than on Thursday, 53 of them with active COVID-19. A total of 16 of the hospitalizedpatients are in intensive care units.

There are nine ICU patients from the Southern Health region, three from the Northern Health Region, two from the Winnipeg health region andtwo from Prairie Mountain Health.

Among those with active COVID-19 in hospital, two-thirds are unvaccinated, and less than a quarter are fully vaccinated.

A total of 61,987 Manitobans have tested positive for COVID-19, with 963 active cases and 59,794 people recovered.

Labs completed 3,163 COVID-19 tests on Thursday. A total of1,046,350 tests for COVID-19 have been done in Manitoba.

Four more deaths have been linked to variants of concern, the provincial government's online variant dashboard says, bringing the total number to 222. An additional 163 COVID-19 cases have been linked to variants, and there are 603 active variant cases.
