Drunk teen found in dumpster after police stop stolen truck going wrong way down street

A Manitoba teen has been charged with impaired driving, among other offences, after police found him drunk and hiding from officers in a dumpster.

A Manitoba teen has been charged with impaired driving, among other offences, after police found him drunk and hiding from officers in a dumpster.

Around 10:30 p.m. on Thursday,Brandon police spotted a Chevrolet Silverado driving the wrong way down a one-way part of Princess Avenue. They recognized the truck asone that had been reported stolen earlier that day.

Police pulled over the truck but the drivergot out and ran away.

Officers chased him and found a 17-year-old boy from Elphinstone, Man., hiding in a dumpsterbehind a business on Rosser Avenue. He'd injured his ankle but refused medical treatment when he was taken to the hospital.

The teen displayed signs of impairment and breath samples obtained at the Brandon Police Service were over the legal limit.

He was charged with impaired driving, possession of property obtained by crimeand numerous Highway Traffic Act offences.

He was taken to the Brandon Correctional Centre to stay until he sobered up and will attend court in June.

The two passengers who were in the truck at the time were released without charge.
