A 20-year-old Winnipeg man was arrested after police in Brandon were called to multiple fires on Saturday morning.

Just before 8 a.m. police were called to a vehicle fire in the east end of Brandon. Around the same time police received another report of a vehicle on fire only two blocks away.

While police and firefighters responded to the first two fires, another call came in about a house on fire nearby.

With help from the canine unit, a suspect was located in the area and police said he was carrying stolen property from the home that was on fire.

Police allege the man went through cars in the area, lighting the two on fire and damaging three others, before going into the home and starting it on fire.
