Two Winnipeg teachers who simulated a lap dance at a student rally are no longer being paid while they wait to learn their fate.

Theteachers were originallysent homewith pay but not officially suspended. They were told in early March that their status would be changed to a suspension andtheirpay would be halted, Winnipeg School Division trustee Mike Babinsky said.

The male and female teachers made sexually suggestive motions during a pep rally at Churchill High School in February, although they remained fully clothed.

The dance was caught on video, and prompted calls from some parents for the teachers to be fired.

In the video, the teachers can be seen grinding against each other while the woman sits in a chair placed in the middle of the gym floor. The man straddles her and bends over while she slaps his behind and playfully tucks pretend money into his waistband.

Theschool division is still deciding whether to take further disciplinary action, but all discussions have been held behind closed doors, which has angered Babinksy.

"It's a public school system. It's not a private company and I think people should be able to criticize what's going on," he said following one such meeting in March.

Babinskysaid he has no idea when a final decision will be made.
