As linebacker Kyrie Wilson and his Winnipeg Blue Bombers teammateslook to clinch the Grey Cup championship on Sunday, some of Wilson's biggest fans will be in Hamilton to cheerhim on.

His "billet parents," Peter Posillipo and Tracey Eagle, along with six of their friends, made the trek from Winnipeg to Ontario to see him play in the final against the Montreal Alouettes.

The group, who came decked out in full Bomber gear, glittery jackets and even Bomber branded sombreros, say they'llbe the loudest ones in the stands cheering Wilson on.

Each of the eight will even be sporting Wilson's jersey and number on Sunday.

"If he saw that we were all here representing his jersey he would be shaking his head," Eagle said with a chuckle.

"Kyrie is the most humble, humble guy you've ever met," said Posillipo. "Genuine. Just a good, good person. Just an awesome kid. I'm really proud of him."

Wilson, who was born in Fresno, Calif.,moved into the Posillipo household six years ago, after being signed by the Bombers in 2017 following a short stint with the Oakland Raiders as an undrafted free agent.

"He's literally a member of our family. He's one of our kids," Posillipo said. "I don't know what we would do without him now. He just brings another level to our house."

He's there for birthdays, celebrations and family dinners, and he even play-fights with Posillipo, just like his own kids.

"I keep thinking that I can take him, but he always throws me down, and he throws me around like a little rag doll," he said.

Wilson has become so close to the family that when Posillipo and Eagle got married last year, he not only attended, but walked both their mothersdown the aisle.

"I have two boys, and Peter has two boys, and Kyrie, he is our number five. In our wedding pictures it's like Peter and I and our five sons," Eagle said with a laugh.

Posillipo grew up watching the Bombers play, and has always been a big fan.

He remembers trying to sneak into the stadium with friends when he was a kid, but jokes that now he doesn't have to because he has a "connection."

For Eagle, Bombers fandom is more recent. She was drawn into the football frenzy when she started dating her now husband four years ago.

Now, all eyes are on Wilson during each game.

"I literally just watch Kyrie play, and just to see his excitement on the field when he makes the tackle and how he reacts and so on it's just sort of a proud moment for us," Eagle said.

She andPosillipo have gone to each of the last four Grey Cups to watch him play.

In 2021, Wilson cemented Winnipeg's second straight Grey Cup victoryby intercepting Hamilton's Jeremiah Masoli, whose pass deflected off two Bombers defenders before it got to Wilson.

His pick capped a remarkable comeback that game by the Bombers, who trailed 22-10 at one point in the fourth quarter.

His billet family is hoping to watch him do it once again.

"We're expecting this year for him to get another interception to win the Grey Cup again," Posillipo said.

They joke that he's not only a star player, but one of Winnipeg's most eligible bachelors.

"If you single women out there are looking for a really good guy, he's eligible," Posillipo laughed. "But you'll have to go through us first."

The Bombers take on the Montreal Alouettes for the Grey Cup Championship on Sunday at 5 p.m. CT.
