Gordon Warren withdraws from Winnipeg mayoral race

Gordon Warren has withdrawn from the race for Winnipeg's mayor, according to the city clerk's office.

Gordon Warren is out of Winnipeg's mayoral race.

The city clerk's officeconfirmed to CBC News that Warren withdrew his candidacy on Monday.

The local blogger started his campaign for mayor by making remarks online about current Mayor Sam Katz that some considered to be anti-Semitic.

Warren said he is not anti-Semitic and apologized for offending anyone. He also changed the wording of his remarks on his blog.

Six people remain in the race for mayor: Brian Bowman, Michel Fillion, Paula Havixbeck, Robert-Falcon Ouellette, Gord Steeves and Michael Vogiatzakis.

Voters will go to the polls on Oct. 22 to elect a mayor and council.
