A woman is likely to be charged in connection with a baby girl found abandoned in a stroller in the city's downtown on Thursday morning, Brandon police say.

Police got a call from a concerned citizen before 7 a.m. on Thursday after finding the 18-month-old girl alone in a stroller. The citizen waited 15 minutes and saw no sign of someone being responsible for the girl in the area, police said.

Identification for two adults, including one for a woman believed to be the mother, was found in the stroller, police said.

The girl has been turned over the Child and Family Services.

Police said the girl's mother reported her missing to police later that afternoon.
