Foul play ruled out in Brandon inmate's death

Foul play has been ruled out in the death of an inmate at the Brandon Correctional Centre in western Manitoba last year.

Jean-Paul (J.P.)Beaumont, 39, was found dead on Oct. 14.His death prompted an investigationby the Brandon Police Service and the RCMP.

Beaumont's death "has been determined to be non-criminal," Brandon police said in a release Wednesday.

Police did not release any other details about its investigation, citing privacy issues.

Court documents show police believe Beaumont was a full-patch member of the Rock Machine and was the biker gang's highly placed sergeant-at-arms.
