Chris Matthews lit up the game, making four huge catches and a touchdownnot too shabby considering he was working at Foot Locker last December and had never made a catch in the NFL.

But Matthews' performance wasn't a surprise to Markus Howell.Howell is the receivers' coach for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, where Matthews spent the last two seasons.

He saidit was a blast to watch the game last nightand hear from fans.

"I do have a Twitter account, but it's very dormant," Howell said. "I don't use it very often, but it was on fire last night, so I definitely appreciate that from the fans."

Howell saidMatthews' performance shows the talent level in the CFL is a lot closer to the NFL than many people think.

Matthews was the front-runner for Super Bowl MVP, until an interception in the final seconds of the game meant Matthews' Seahawks ended up losing the game. Regardless, Matthews put on a clinic, catching four passes for 109 yards and one touchdown. Matthewswas the CFL's rookie of the year in 2012.

"He's a great guy to be around, great teammate, guys love him in the locker room and his play helped us as a team, so it's great to see those types of people succeed," Howell said.
