Manitoba RCMP searches for 2 intruders who shot women during home invasion

Two women were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds after a home invasion in Fairford, Man.

Gypsumville RCMP were called to the home on Fox Road at 5:40 a.m. on Thursdayin the community, located in Manitoba's Interlake, 239 kilometres north of Winnipeg.

The two women were at home when two men wearing balaclavas attempted to enter through the front door, Mounties said in a news release on Friday.

The women used furniture to block the front door, but the intruders were able to break through the front window. They shot the victims as they ran for cover inside the home.

RCMP said the intruders then left the residence in a vehicle that could be a black SUV.

Gypsumville RCMP continue to investigate.
