Elmwood Kildonans Pool likely closed until December

People hoping to use the Elmwood Kildonans Poolwill have to find a different facility for the rest of the year.

The facility was closed in early May after an electrical fire. Initially, the city said there was some smoke damage but a press release on Friday said thedamage was extensive and the pool is now expected to stay closed until December.

People enrolled in swim programs will be contacted by the city.

As well, the opening of the outdoor pool in Kildonan Park has also been delayed. It was set to open June 16 butmechanical repairs have thrown a kink into that plan.

Rental groups have been contacted by staff and, where possible, have been accommodated at other locations.

There is no word on when it will open.
