Police block off part of Ellice Avenue near downtown as they investigate assault

A man was taken to hospital in unstable condition early Thursday morning after police were called to Ellice Avenue and Young Street to investigate a report of an injured person.

A man was taken to hospital in unstable condition early Thursday morning after police were called to Ellice Avenue and Young Street to investigate a report of an injured person.

Police were called to the area around 3:20 a.m.

They are now investigating an assault, a police spokesperson said via email. They did not say how the man was injured.

Blood splatters could be seen on the sidewalk in front of the Ellice Place building on Ellice Avenue.

The westbound curblaneof Ellice Avenue is closed between Young Street and Furby Street, as well asMcMicken Street where it passes through Ellice Place.
