Man convicted in Johnny G's shooting to serve 12 years

A convicted participant in the 2013 killing inside Johnny G's restaurant on Main Street will serve 12 years minus time served, a judge ruled Monday.

Morgan Van Bone pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit murder and to taking part in the activities of a criminal organization on June 30.

Van Bone was initially charged with first-degree murder in connection with the killing of William Moar, 24, on Feb. 15, 2013.

Two other people were also charged with first-degree murder in connection with the shooting, including a 15-year-old boy who was found in Calgary and had to be transported back to Winnipeg.

The other,Akech Dut Ajak, was arrested and charged in Winnipeg on March 8. Ajak has ajury trial scheduled for next year.
