Police renew call for tips in hit-and-run death of Cody Joss

It's been two years since Cody Joss was hit near the Inkster Boulevard and McGregor Street intersection.

Police renewed a call for information into the death of Cody Joss, who died after being hit by a vehicle two years ago.

Cody Joss's family is still waiting for answers,two years after the 21-year-old was fatally injured in a hit-and-run crash.

Police renewed the call for information into Joss's death Monday.

Joss was hit by a driver near the intersection at Inkster Boulevard and McGregor Street on Dec. 19, 2014, at about 6:45 p.m. CT. He was taken to hospital in critical condition but died of his injuries.

Investigators later determined Joss was crossingInkster on foot when a westboundvehicle hit him. The driver left the area before police arrived.

Police believe the suspect was driving a dark-coloured pickup truck.

They are hoping someone saw something. Witnesses at the scene told police a second vehicle was also seen travelling the same direction down Inkster shortly after the crash.

On the corner where Joss was hit, his family and friends gathered to remember him Monday night. They stood and watched the traffic pass by at the same time he was killed two years ago.

"It brings back a lot of memories of the night. Seeing the turnout and support helps out a lot," Joss' father, Kevin, said.

"He deserves some justice and I'm just asking anyone to come forward if you know anything. Please," he added.

Joss' aunt, Denise Malver, said she often comes to put flowers at the corner.

"Cody was the kind of person who never had a bad word to say about anybody. You never saw him without a smile," she said.
