Brandon man faces child porn charge after woman gets nude photo of girl

A Brandon man has been charged with a number of child pornography-related offences after a woman was sent a nude photo of an allegedly underage girl.

The woman told police she had received the photo in October from a man she knew on the messaging app Kik, Brandon police said in a release Wednesday morning. The woman said the girl was under 18 at the time the photo was taken.

Police tracked the IP address that was used to send the photo and searched a residence on Tuesday.

Several electronic devices were seized, police said.

A 20-year-old Brandon man was arrested and charged with publication of an intimate image without consent, possessing child pornography, personation with intent and distributing child pornography.

The man will appear in court in February.
