What do you think of the Senate expenses scandal? CBC News hit the streets on Friday to find out how peoplefeel about the ongoing controversy on Parliament Hill.

Debate continued on Friday over whether to suspend senators Patrick Brazeau, Mike Duffy and Pamela Wallin without pay and benefits because of inappropriately claimed expenses.

All three senators defended themselves this week with dramatic statements. On Friday, Brazeau said he was offered what he called a "backroom deal" by the government's leader of the Senate.

On Friday, CBC reporters heldup signs in Winnipeg, Vancouver and Montreal, inviting passersby to talk about the ongoingSenate controversy.

While holding up a sign invited many strangeglances from people, some were keen to voice anger at Prime Minister Stephen Harper and the senators at the centre of the scandal.

"There's no truth and honesty in there," Norman Twoheart said in Winnipeg.

Some also questioned the value of the upper chamber and demanded Senate reform.

"How can you have a chamber of sober second thought about democracy when the Senate's not even democratically appointed?" said Carl Habck.
