Two 21-year-old men have been charged with theft and other offences after a number of vehicles were broken into in a River Heights neighbourhood between midnight Monday and early Tuesday morning.

Police said between 12 a.m. and 5:30 a.m., the suspects broke into vehicles and stole property in the area of Cambridge Street and Corydon Avenue, hitting a Cadillac Escalade in the 1100 block of Grosvenor Avenue, a Chevrolet Silverado in the 700 block of Dorchester Avenue, and a Honda Civic in the 300 block of Arlington Street.

They said they were notified when a resident saw the men rummaging through a car in the area.

Police caught up with the suspects near Grant Avenue and Cambridge Street.

In addition to stolen property, police said the suspects also had illegal drugs and weapons.

Both men are being held in custody.
