Wanted: Hair-raising farmland for Halloween 'terror trail'

It's not even spring, but Justin Husson is already thinking about Halloween.

The London man is on the hunt for a piece of farmland or large property with a field or wooded area to turn into a Halloween "terror trail" for charity.

"I really, really think we'll be bringing the scares this year," Husson told CBC Afternoon Drive host Chris dela Torre.

Husson, who has experienced personal challenges with mental health, said he wants to put the event proceeds toward local mental health initiatives.

"I think advocating for mental health really should be important to everybody at this point," he said. "I know multiple people that still suffer, are still dealing with their mental health, and awareness is so important."

And although generatingterror might not seem like an obvious way to raise money for mental health, Husson said being scared on purpose can be a cathartic experience for those dealing with stress or anxiety.

"I like to get scared," he said.

"It's healthy to experience emotions, especially when you're suffering from mental health [issues] or you're dealing with the stresses of life, that's what Halloween is about, that's why we use it as an outlet."

Hussonsaid he's looking for land in Middlesex or LambtonCounty and the surrounding area, and wants to secure a property for a period of a fewdays to a week.

He's posted an ad on Kijiji and hopes to have a location in place by the end of the month.
