A large stretch of one of London's busiest roads will be closed onWednesday during the day.

Highbury Avenue between Hamilton Road and Highway 401 will be closedbetween 9 a.m.and 4p.m.for infrastructure maintenance, city officials announced Tuesday.

The closure will leave drivers planning on heading north or south on the arterial road with delays or route adjustments Wednesday.

"People travelling north and south on Highbury Avenue are advised to expect delays and plan ahead using navigation apps such as Waze and Google Maps," the city's announcement reads.

Northbound traffic exiting Highway 401 onto Highbury will be redirected to Bradley Avenue.

The city website that tracks construction projects and related road closures says the work that requires the road to be closed is "scheduled ditch work."

People who rely on public transit are being advised to check the London Transit Commission's website for information on detours and cancellations.
