Pedestrian struck and killed by car in west London, driver arrested

A London man has been arrested following a fatal crash that killed a male pedestrian in the city's west endlateTuesday night.

London Police say they were called to the area of Oxford Street West near Laurel Street at around 11 p.m.for a hit-and-run that involved a pedestrian.

A description of the suspected vehicle was givento officers, police said.

When they arrived on the scene, officers found a man suffering fromsignificant injuries.He was taken to a hospital by paramedics, where he later died of those injuries.

Police say they learned that the crashhappened around Oxford Street West near Hyde Park Road.

A suspect was taken into custody shortly after midnight.

Police say they won't release information about the victim until his identity has been confirmed and his next of kin have been notified. The traffic management unit is investigating the crash.
