Middlesex OPP search for suspects after pumpkins tossed onto vehicles on highways

Middlesex County OPP is asking for the public's help in identifying those responsible for throwing debris off highway overpasses in London, Ont. over the Thanksgiving long weekend.

Middlesex County OPP is looking for suspects after pumpkins were tossed onto passing vehicles alonghighway overpasses in London, Ont., over the Thanksgiving weekend.

Police were called to eastbound Highway 401 near Old Victoria Road at around 2:30 a.m. Saturday after receiving a report that a pumpkin struck thewindshield of a transport truck. The impact caused extensive damage, police said.

Then shortly after 3:10 a.m., police were called to Highway 402 near White Oak Road, west of the first location, after receiving two more reports of transport trucks being struck with pumpkins.

No injuries were reportedand in all three incidents the vehicles were able to safely pullover to the shoulder of the highway.

"The behaviour is unlawful, dangerous, it's reckless and it's unacceptable," said OPP Constable Brett Phair. "Inthis instance, no one was hurt, but it could result easily in a collision that could have serious injuries or even fatal injuries, whether it was a passenger vehicle or a commercial vehicle."

Police said they have no description of the suspect(s)and the investigation is ongoing.
