SIU investigates after London police officer administers naloxone

Ontario's police watchdog is investigating an incident that involves a London police officer administering naloxone while on a medical call.

The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) said police responded to a residence along Huron Street and Adelaide Street North at 7:35 p.m. Wednesday.

There, an officer performed CPR on a man and administered naloxone to him.

Emergency crews then transported the man to hospital.

The 21-year-oldremains in hospital in life-threatening condition.

The SIU said two investigators and two forensic investigations have been assigned to the case.

The arm's-length agency investigatesreports involving death, serious injury or allegations of sexual assault.

The reason for the investigation is unclear.

However the SIU is asking anyone who has information to contact the lead investigator at 1-800-787-8529.
