London hit with big snowfall, all school buses cancelled but schools remain open

Environment Canada has now ended a snowfall warning for the London area, including Strathroy, Parkhill and Komoka.

The weather agency lifted the warning at 4:45 a.m. Tuesday after heavy snow walloped the region overnight. Forecasters were predicting as much as 25 cm could fall by morning.

All school buses serving students at the Thames Valley District School Board and the London District Catholic Board are cancelled for Tuesday because of the snow. Blowing snow is still expected today with winds gusting to 50 km/hr, and lake effect snow squalls are forecast for the afternoon and evening hour, with additional accumulations of 5 cm expected. It will remain cold, with the temperatureholding steady around minus 9 with a wind chill of minus 18.

Most highways Southwestern Ontario are reported to be snow-covered and visibility ranges from fair to poor on the 400 series highways.
