Ed Holder speaks to media for the first time as mayor-elect of London

After 14 rounds of counting, Ed Holder emerged as the winner in the race for mayor in the 2018 municipal election in London.

The 64-year-old businessman and former Conservative MP hadto wait 20 hours after the polls closed to find out he had defeated 13 other hopefuls using the ranked ballot system.

He will replace Matt Brown, who did not seek re-election as mayor.

Holder met with the media Tuesday afternoon outside the Central Library in downtown London.

Holder received 57,609 votes under the ranked ballot system, beating second place finisherPaul Paolattoby 13,312 votes.

Councillor Tanya Park finished third in the race followed by businessman Paul Cheng.
