CBC London will broadcast live for London Morning and Afternoon Drive on Friday, Dec. 6, from the London Food Bank warehouse at 926 Leathorne Street.

You may know it as Sounds of the Season, but this year, we're joining 26 other CBC stations coast-to-coast to bring youMake the Season Kind.It's is our annual holiday fundraiser in support of the London Food Bank.

The goal is to raise money, food donations and awareness for those facing food insecurity in London. This year, the need is greater than ever.

CBC's London Morning and Afternoon Drive will be broadcasting LIVE on Friday,Dec. 6, from the London Food Bank warehouseat 926 Leathorne Street. Listeners can come meet the team, see a live radio broadcast in action, and get to know the kindness-makers in our community.

London Morning went live from the London Food Bank for their annual Sounds of the Season campaign on Dec. 8, featuring Londoners making a difference, along with holiday songs by the Beal Singers.

This year, Andrew Brown and the entire London Morning team will welcome the Banting Secondary School choir to the stage starting at 6 a.m. They'll be lots of coffee and treats, plus some CBC swag for select donors until 8:30 a.m.

Later, stop by on your drive home to take in the sounds of local country singer Aaron Allen when he joins Matt Allen and the Afternoon Drive crew. That show startsat 4 p.m. and runs until 6 p.m.

Reasons to give

Londoners gave more than $63,000 to the CBC London foodbank campaign in 2023. It made a difference for the many people struggling to make ends meet.Since 2015, the CBC has raised more than$51 millionfor food banks and other charities from coast to coastas part of their annual holiday drives.

Some data to consider from Feed Ontario:

  • Some 1 million Ontariansvisiteda food bank between April 1, 2023 and March 31, 2024.
  • That was a25 per cent increase from the year before.
  • Food banks were visited 7.6 million times last year.
  • It'sthe eighth consecutive year food bank use has risen in the province.
