Countdown begins for the 2019 Juno Awards in host London

The countdown begins.

Now that the 2018 Juno Awards have wrapped up out west, more information is being released about next year's Canadian music awards hosted in London.

"It really kicks off what we're calling 'Juno 2019, 365 days'," said Dan Brodbeck, a member of the host committee.

"The idea is that nothing is too small. That's what the motto has been. We have to realize that this doesn't happen every year," he said.

Social media sites for the 2019 celebrations were activated on Sunday evening, buildinganticipation with photos, videos and contest promotions.

It was the same day asa 2018Juno Awards viewing party at the London Music Hall.

"We want people to leave next year thinking this is the best Juno awards they've ever been to," Brodbecksaid.

Several members of the host committee, along with London's mayor attended this year's celebrations to represent the city in Vancouver.

The event will be held at Budweiser Gardens, with possible satellite screenings at local venues.

'Puts us on the map'

Londoners swayed to local artist Chad Price who openedSunday's events.

The 31-year-old has two albums under his belt and bigaspirations for a Juno award himself which now seems much more attainable.

"This is a well-deserved thing coming to London. It's like a hidden gem. People don't know about the talent in London but it'spresent," he said. "It's an opportunity to gain more exposure and more attention."

ManyLondoners including Mark Henshaw hope to see London's thrivingbusiness community represented on the big stage.

"I want to see every business in London having events and having people wanting to come for the week before the event. It'll be a place for people to celebrate music and community," he said.

Juno Week 2019 willbegin on March 11 culminating with the awards ceremony on March 17.
