Flood damage means several-month closure of Wilmot Oxford-Waterloo Road

A 750-metre stretch of the Oxford-Waterloo Road in Wilmot, between the Nith River and Tye Road, will be closed for the next couple of months as a result of flood damage.

The Oxford-Waterloo Road in Wilmot will be closed for the next couple of months as a result of flood damage along a 750-metre stretch between Nith River and Tye Road.

The Township of Wilmotsaid in a release significant amounts of debris accumulated during the recent flooding and sections of the road have been washed away completely.

"Township staff have been on-site to clear debris but additional work is required," the township said.

A bridge along the same road was also damaged during the flood and will need to be assessed.

The township said they expect the road to be closed for the next one to two months "before conditions will be favourable to conduct debris removal and damage repair."

WilmotTownship will also do additional garbage pick-up onFeb.27 for residents on the following streetswhowere affected by the recent flooding:

  • Both sections of Mill Street
  • Grace Street
  • Seyler Street
  • Jacob Street
  • Asmus Street
  • Boullee Street
  • Union Street
  • Burns Street
  • Huron Street between Hartman Bridge and Peel Street
  • Peel Street below Huron
  • Milton Street between Huron and Hannah Street
