Libraries in Cambridge, Kitchener and Waterloo reopen to in-person services Monday

Some libraries in Waterloo region will reopen Monday as the community moves into Step 2 of the provincial reopening plan.

The Idea Exchange in Cambridge, Kitchener Public Library and Waterloo Public Library said they would be open on Monday to allow people to browse the stacks of books and to use computers.

Region of Waterloo Library brancheswill remain closed to in-person browsing until Friday.

"Time limits will be placed on equipment use and reservations are recommended. Members can make reservations in advance by calling a location or inquiring with staff when they visit," Idea Exchange said in a release.

Curbside pickup will continue or people can pickup items through a contactless process inside.

Study spaces or rooms are available by reservation at Idea Exchange and Kitchener Public Library, but not yet at Waterloo Public Library.

Workstations at the Heffner Studio are also available by reservation at Kitchener Public Library.

None of the libraries have opened lounge or common sitting areas.

As well, virtual programs will continue for now.
