Resident dies of COVID-19 at Stratford's Greenwood Court long-term care home

A person in their 80s has died of COVID-19 at Greenwood Court in Stratford, Ont. Public Health says there are six confirmed cases of COVID-19 in residents at the home and five in staff.

A person in their 80s who lived at Greenwood Court in Stratford, Ont. has died of COVID-19, according to Huron Perth Public Health.

The individualbecame sick with COVID-19 symptoms on April 3, the health unit said in a release on Saturday.

There are six confirmed cases in residents at the home as well as five cases in staff, public health said.

Medical officer of healthDr. Miriam Klassensaid in the release that all the residents with the virus are being cared for at the home and none have been taken to hospital. The health unit said it'sworking with officials at the home on infection control measures.

"We know how serious this infection can be for our vulnerable populations, including our seniors in long-term care homes and in those with underlying health conditions," Klassen said.

There is also one case of COVID-19 at Hillside Manor near Sebringville, public health noted.
